Rumba is not a dance, but a feeling. A dancer’s dance, because of its simplicity in movement, rhythm, and its generally slower tempo. Dancers will learn to play with these elements in interesting and fun ways to create a dance that feels truly you.

Currently, Rumba rhythms do not (yet) get a lot of play at Salsa/Latin dance socials. It’s still a niche dance within the Ballroom world.
While not a well-known dance at large, within the Ballroom dance world, it is usually taught first because it is so fundamental.
