Fiery & Unrelenting

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.  Grab your fire extinguisher; you can smell a Cha Cha cooking from the next room.  Whether it’s your feet, or your heart that’s on fire, Cha Cha promises to deliver an exhilarating experience that will leave you breathless.

Cha Cha is a direct descendant of Danzon-Mambo, and credit is given to Enrique Jorrin for actively developing ChaCha.  He took away the syncopated rhythms and added a heavy down beat to make it more appealing to dance-focused crowds. Cha-cha-cha (dance) - Wikipedia

Cha Cha is mostly danced in Ballroom scenes as part of the socials and competitions. It does not have its own dedicated community.  It is very rarely played in Latin dance halls, and when it is, the floor clears.

Within the Ballroom world, it is usually not taught right away, because it can be challenging to “get”.  The rhythm is quick and unrelenting requiring you to keep your wits about you.

If you’re interested in learning Ballroom dancing, you will eventually make peace with this dance. We recommend pairing this dance with Mambo because of the similarity of rhythms and body actions.
